Mission: Impossible 5 Release Date
After originally being set for release on Christmas Day this year, Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have just announced that Mission: Impossible 5 will arrive in theaters five months earlier. The studio has set a new release date of July 31st, 2015 (while also pushing back their Monster Trucks movie from this summer to the December 25th slot instead). The film directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) is still in production, so this is surprising. I can't remember a movie getting bumped up so far, but maybe they were worried about Star Wars: The Force Awakens the week before.
But at the same time, moving the movie up five months feels like a weird decision. Though Paramount probably didn't want to dump it in the fall, and the end of summer proved to be very lucrative forGuardians of the Galaxy (it came out on August 1st last year), mostly because there's not much competition at the box office once August and September roll around. We still have no idea what Mission: Impossible 5is about, but we do know that Tom Cruise pulled off a pretty impressive high-flying stunt for the movie. With the movie arriving much sooner, hopefully we'll get a first look sometime soon. Excited?
